The design solution to support the existing bridge during construction of the new retaining wall is complete and has been independently verified.
The solution will comprise installing a cofferdam, excavating to the gravel heads at a depth of approximately four metres, and pouring concrete to form a solid base onto which the bridge can be founded and allowing construction of the south east retaining wall to proceed.
Having reviewed how best to proceed to accelerate the programme we are now able to advise:
The remaining minor roadworks (kerbing, traffic islands and roundabouts) to see the project through to completion will be carried out under temporary lane closures as needed.
Full completion October 2019.
We look forward to bringing the project to a successful conclusion.
